The Challenge
Uzbekistan's regional oncology infrastructure lacked standardised clinical protocols, qualified oncology staff, and modern diagnostic equipment, resulting in late-stage diagnoses and avoidable patient transfers to Tashkent.
Our Approach
Saglik deployed a unified management team across all three sites, introduced standardised oncology protocols aligned with ESMO guidelines, and coordinated a facility upgrade programme co-funded by the Asian Development Bank.
The Solution
A hub-and-spoke oncology network with Tashkent as the tertiary referral centre, integrated via an HL7 FHIR referral module, enabling real-time patient transfer coordination and shared oncology records.
Results
Within 18 months of operational handover, stage I/II diagnoses increased by 34%, avoidable Tashkent transfers fell by 61%, and the facilities passed Ministry of Health quality accreditation.
